School Meals
School Meals
At Lowerplace School we offer a wonderful varied menu, prepared lovingly by our Catering Team.
The menus change weekly and run on a four week cycle.
All food is prepared on the premises and we cater for all dietary needs. All meat at the school is Halal and we ensure there is always a vegetarian option. In addition to hot food, the pupils are also able to choose a 'grab bag’, which has a sandwich, fruit, biscuits and a drink in. The pupils are always able to choose fresh fruit and we have a salad bar.
If children do not want a school meal, they can bring a packed lunch. We ask that this does not contain fizzy drinks, chewing gum or nuts please. If you would like some ideas for your child's packed lunch please click here.
For children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, their school meal is free of charge under the Universal Infant Free School Meal scheme.
For children in Years 3 - 6, dinners cost £11.50 per week and meals must be paid for in advance. Some pupils in Years Three, Four, Five and Six may be entitled to a free school meal. If you think you may be eligible, please find more information here or contact the office and ask to speak to Mrs Thorpe.
The school office cannot accept cash payments, but you can easily sign up for a SIMS Pay account to pay online. If you prefer not to make online payments, the school office can print a barcode for you to make cash or card payments at the Post Office or any Paypoint shop. Please contact the office for more information.
If you would like your child to change from Packed Lunches to School Meals, or vice versa, you must speak to a member of staff in the School Office (not your child's teacher). Parents are asked to give notice by 3:30pm on Thursday the week before you would like to swap, so we can adjust the number of meals the school kitchen is making.
